London kids learn from Deng coach

Luol Deng
Luol Deng was discovered by Brixton Topcats coach Jimmy Rogers

The coach who discovered basketball star Luol Deng is coaching youngsters from Shepherds Bush for free.

Brixton Topcats coach Jimmy Rogers will take sessions on Saturdays at Burlington Danes Basketball Club.

"I am really excited to be a part of Burlington Danes and am enjoying working with young people from the Shepherds Bush area," said Rogers.

"I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for any talented youngsters who could have a future in the game."

Rogers unearthed Luol Deng soon after the 6ft 9in (2.05m) superstar moved to England from Egypt.

Deng now plays for the Chicago Bulls where he earns more money than Chelsea and England captain John Terry.

The initiative is organised by Hammersmith and Fulham Council's School Sports Partnership and funded in partnership between Burlington Danes Academy and the Big Lottery Fund.

The sessions are open to youngsters who go to schools in Shepherds Bush aged between seven and 16.
