The Newcastle Eagles claimed their second title of the season with a 70-51 win over Leicester Riders in the BBL Trophy final at the Coventry Skydome. After trailing 28-30 at half-time, the Eagles held their opponents to just three points in the third quarter.
And after four minutes of the final quarter, they led by 20 points.
Andrew Sullivan won the most valuable player award thanks to his tally of 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Eagles.
Sullivan was ably assisted by back-up guard Andrew Bridge, who hit three three-pointers in his 14 points.
"We're the team with all the big game experience," said Bridge. "Once we started hitting our threes, they couldn't collapse on our inside players."
Leicester had 12 points each from Deginald Erskin and Ryan Huntley, but it was their veteran forward Tony Holley who grabbed most of the credit.
Already the BBL's all-time leading rebounder, Holley took 19 rebounds for the Riders, a record for a Trophy final.
The Eagles' win mean they have a chance of winning all four domestic titles this season.
