England's Rajiv Ouseph put up a good display before losing 21-14 21-13 to China's world number one Lin Dan in the Chinese Taipei Open quarter-finals. The 19-year-old from Middlesex beat Canada's world number 35 Bobby Milroy to secure his place in the last eight.
Ouseph, viewed as a real prospect for London 2012, will move up from his current career-high world ranking of 94 when the new positions are announced.
Team-mates Andrew Smith and Tracey Hallam both lost in the first round.
