Emms and Robertson dropped the second set |
Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms reached the All-England Championships semi-finals after a 15-5 9-15 15-13 win over Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen. The defending mixed doubles champions raced through the first set, but let the second slip and then fell 8-2 behind the Chinese pair in the decider.
They rallied after the change of ends and converted their fourth match point.
"It was a fantastic match. I thought we could be going out, but it was about who wanted it more," said Robertson.
In the men's singles, top seed Lin Dan of China eased into the semis, beating Dane Kenneth Johanssen 15-10 15-3.
The 2004 winner was on top of his game and often had the Dane floundering.
Johanssen's fourth-seeded compatriot Peter Gade progressed with a 15-6 15-13 win over China's Chen Jin.
