Perfect Patriots set new record
Tom Brady
Brady was an influential figure again for the Patriots
New England secured a record 15th successive win in a single NFL season with a 28-7 success against Miami.

They eclipsed Miami's record of 14 straight wins in 1972. Another win on Saturday at New York Giants would seal the first undefeated season since then.

Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes and is one short of Peyton Manning's NFL record of 49 set in 2004.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville booked a place in the AFC play-offs on Sunday when they defeated Oakland 49-11.

That signified the Raiders' worst result of the season so far.

Fred Taylor's 62-yard touchdown run on the Jaguars' opening play set the tone for a commanding performance which earned their sixth win in seven games.

The Giants ensured their play-off place with a 38-21 win over Buffalo.

Ahmad Bradshaw's 88-yard run for a touchdown was the highlight of an impressive Giants rushing display.

Cleveland are still struggling for a play-off spot after they went down 19-14 to Cincinnati, who have nothing left to play for this season.

Two consecutive interceptions from Derek Anderson's throwing set up the Bengals' touchdowns late in the first half, as he threw four in total in the match.

Victory in Cincinnati would have ensured the Browns a place in the play-offs.

Donovan McNabb passed for 263 yards and three touchdowns as Philadelphia upset New Orleans 38-23, damaging the home team's chances of reaching the play-offs.

Chicago thumped Green Bay 35-7 to end the Packers' chances of home field advantage in the play-offs.

Brian Urlacher returned an 85-yard interception for a touchdown and Adrian Peterson ran for 102 yards as the Bears won in snowy conditions.

Green Bay's Brett Favre passed for just nine yards in the first half but his 153 yards overall put him over the 4,000-yard mark in a season for the fifth time.

Indianapolis beat the Houston Texans 38-15 for their sixth win in a row and Detroit ended a six-game losing streak with a 25-20 win over Kansas City.

In the weekend's opening game, Pittsburgh beat struggling St Louis 41-24 to stay top of the AFC North but at the cost of losing the league's leading running back, Willie Parker, to a broken right leg.

Parker's replacement, Najeh Davenport, rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass.

In the Christmas Eve match, LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown when the San Diego Chargers rolled to their fifth consecutive victory with a 23-3 home win over the Denver Broncos.

Quarterback Philip Rivers threw one touchdown pass and Nate Kaeding kicked three field goals as the AFC West champion Chargers improved to 10-5.
