Dungy will mastermind the Colts' defence of their title |
Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy has confirmed he will stay with the Colts after their Super Bowl success. After they beat Chicago 29-17 in Miami earlier this month, he refused to say for certain whether he would still be in the Colts' hot-seat next season.
But Dungy, 51, the first black head coach to win the Super Bowl, said on Tuesday that he will continue.
"I wouldn't say it was an easy decision but it was the right one. It didn't take overly long to make," he said.
Dungy played on a Super Bowl-winning team with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1978.
He spent 15 years as an assistant and 10 more as an NFL head coach before returning to the American football showpiece.
Joining Mike Ditka as the only man to play in a Super Bowl for the winners and coach a title team, Dungy has compiled a 114-62 coaching record.
