Ben Rhydding's men's veterans hockey team are just 70 minutes away from a major national final.

The Ilkley-based side travel to Barford Tigers on Sunday in the semi-final of the England Hockey Men's Veteran's Cup.

Club president Robin Snook said: "We have got to this stage of the competition before and that could well help us this time.

"We've got a very experienced team and this may be our opportunity to claim victory."

The team, who are all aged over 40, have already beaten teams from Canterbury, Bowden in Cheshire and Hull to make it to the semis.

The other semi-final is between York and Ipswich and the winners of the entire competition will be entered into the European tournament.

Ben Rhydding men's veterans have tasted cup success in the past, having won the National Plate final against Hampton in 2008.
