Four girls from Truro School, in Cornwall, are in training as they bid to swim the Channel next September.

The quartet, who are all aged 16 and 17, will swim the 22-mile course in a relay, with each girl in the water for an hour.

They have been training in the sea in December to acclimatise to the cold water they will encounter.

They hope the swim will raise over �4,000 for the Precious Lives appeal for a Children's Hospice in Cornwall.
