Renate Goetschl won Wednesday's World Cup super-G race at Cortina, Italy, in a time of one minute 15.57 seconds. The Austrian edged out Sweden's Anja Paerson, who clocked 1:15.79, with German Martina Ertl third in 1:16.02.
The victory was Goetschl's first of the season, and a record sixth on Cortina's Olympia delle Tofane course - one more than local favourite Isolde Kostner.
Britain's Chemmy Alcott finished 22nd, despite suffering concussion in a downhill training run on Tuesday.
Goetschl, who has won 34 World Cup races, said: "This is a big relief. It has been a long time for me to wait this season.
"I was so relaxed, so confident, so focused that a bomb could have exploded next to me and I could still have won the race."
With 12 victories, Goetschl is now only four wins behind Germany's Katja Seizinger, the all-time leader in the World Cup super-G stakes.
Nine skiers did not complete their runs, among them Maria Riesch, who is considered a future star of German skiing.
Riesch lost control midway through her run and slammed backwards into protective fencing, hitting her head first.
It was later confirmed that the 20-year-old will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn interior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
She also suffered facial cuts and bruises.
