Perry makes last 16 at World Open
Rachel Grinham
Perry faces top seed Rachel Grinham on Wednesday
Northern Ireland's Madeline Perry justified her 16th seeding by winning her first round match at the women's Squash World Open in Kuala Lumpur.

Perry beat Rebecca Chiu in straight games 9-4 9-2 9-5 which avenged a defeat by the Hong Kong player at the Bahrain Classic in September.

The Irish number one will play top seeded Australian Rachel Grinham in the last 16 on Wednesday.

Perry has moved up the rankings this season to a career-high 16th.

She qualified for the semi-finals of the Irish Open in April, where she lost to Dutch world number three Vanessa Atkinson and also made the last eight at the Malaysian and Las Vegas Opens.

However, she faces a massive task in Wednesday's second round game against Grinham, who retained the British Open title in November.
