Sweetenham has delegated most of his administrative duties

Sweetenham's approach was criticised after his team returned from the Athens Olympics with two bronze medals.

"I was spending 80% of my time on administration and 20% on deck. It'll be the other way round from now on," he told the Times newspaper.

Sweetenham has promoted national youth coach John Atkinson and put him in charge of the GB short-course team.

Atkinson, who has been made director of world-class programmes, will lead the team at next month's European Short-Course Championships in Vienna.

National head coach Ian Turner will remain Sweetenham's 'right-hand man in the water', and he has been charged with developing a world-class men's 4x200m freestyle relay squad for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Ben Titley will take on the same role for the women's relay team, and Tim Jones will replace Atkinson as head of youth development.

"John will take on many of the administrative roles that kept me off the deck," said Sweetenham.

"I believe this is the most advanced structure in the swimming world and it will lead to sustained success.

"Just like it wasn't about Athens, it's not just about Beijing but about London 2012 and beyond."
