Law will be encouraged by Coup de Coeur's showing in France |
Leslie Law showed he has added another top-class horse to his string when he guided new ride Coup de Coeur to 12th place in the World Eventing Cup final. The Olympic eventing champion produced a steady display in both the dressage and cross-country phases in France.
And despite four time penalties and two knockdowns in the showjumping, Law's performance was still good enough to see him finish the leading Briton.
Zara Phillips was the second-best Briton in 24th on Springleaze Macaroo.
British Olympic silver medallist Pippa Funnell was lying in eighth place at the Pau competition after the dressage but felt her horse Viceroy II was not quite right and withdrew him.
Meanwhile, Polly Stockton had an outing to forget - she and the strong-headed Sir Lancelot were eliminated during the cross-country.
At the top of the order, Swede Linda Algotsson teamed up with My Fair Lady to successfully defended the title she won in 2033 on Stand by Me.
Reigning world champion Jean Teulere, of France, was second while Belgium's Karin Donkers took third.
