The event is a 2800 mile transatlantic race |
Marc Guillemot, who got off to the fastest start, has pulled out of the single-handed Transat after hitting a drifting object. "The Transat's over for me and it's a great shame," he said.
The collision, which happened while he was sleeping, damaged a float and meant he could not sail into the wind.
Three other Frenchmen lead the 2,800 mile transatlantic race, Thomas Coville in his trimaran Sodebo, Michel Desjoyeaux and Franck Cammas.
