Great Britain has won the right to host the 2005 Rowing World Cup. It is the first time that Britain will have held a World Cup regatta and the first time British rowers will be able to compete at top level on home soil.
The event will be staged at the newly-built Olympic standard course at Eton, paid for out of 1.5m of lottery money given to support rowing.
Dorney Lake will host the rowing and canoe kayak events for the 2012 Olympic Games if London's bid is successful.
"We have every confidence that the event will further demonstrate the UK's expertise in delivering events of this scale as we continue our efforts to convince the sporting world that London is the ideal host for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2012," said Sebastian Coe, chairman of London's bid.
