Funnell will be bidding for a second successive Olympic medal |
Pippa Funnell and William Fox-Pitt have been named in Britain's Olympic equestrian three-day eventing team. Funnell was part of the team that won silver in Sydney and both Leslie Law and Jeanette Brakewell, who were also in that team, are included again.
Fox-Pitt, who won the Badminton horse trials recently, and Sarah Cutteridge make up the five confirmed riders.
Mary King, Polly Stockton and Bumble Thomas are the trio from which one will be chosen as the travelling reserve.

"The horses and riders who were considered for the Olympic Team have, on the whole, performed very well during the spring," said Yogi Breisner, the performance manager for the British eventing team.
"Many of them have enhanced their form from what they showed last year. This made it difficult for the selectors as a lot of the riders and their horses were very level pegging.
"I think the selectors have done a great job in their choice of the team."
A further eight riders have been named as a second group of reserves.
"I am 100% convinced that any of the team horse/rider combinations can produce the form that will give us a great result in Athens," added Breisner.
