Freestyle star Foster failed to make the British team for Athens |
Britain's Olympic swimmers have gone straight into trying to qualify for the World Short-Course Championships in the United States in October. Mark Foster, who controversially missed out on Athens, produced the best performance in Manchester on Thursday.
Foster won the 50m freestyle by more than a second in 21.35 seconds and admitted it had been difficult to watch the Olympics on TV.
"I'm not saying I would have won but it's the not knowing," he said.
"Having a point to prove has gone - I can't do anything about that now."
Graeme Smith won the men's 400m freestyle in a Scottish record of 3:44.91, outside the qualifying time, while Olympic 1500m bronze medallist David Davies finished third.
Rebecca Cooke, who was sixth in the 800m in Athens, was fourth in the 200m individual medley, which was won by Clare Windeatt in 2:13.78. In the men's 200m backstroke Gregor Tait edged out James Goddard to win in 1:53.42.
Goddard admitted it may be a while before he recovers from events in Athens, where he saw a bronze medal snatched from his grasp.
Goddard had originally finished fourth in the 200m backstroke but was briefly upgraded to bronze before American Aaron Peirsol was reinstated as the winner.
"I don't think I've got over it (not getting a medal)," said Goodard. "I should have got a medal - I should have won my own medal.
"I shouldn't have come fourth - I should have come second or third."
