GB swimmers eye medal haul
Katy Sexton and Mark Foster.
Olympic hopefuls Mark Foster and Katy Sexton expect a much-improved British performance in Athens.

"We've moved on a hell of a lot since four years ago," said Foster, who aims to compete at his fifth Games.

"I think we should come back with around five medals, which would be fantastic."

World 200m backstroke champion Sexton added: "We've got Bill Sweetenham in as national performace director, whose given us a kick up the backside."

The British swimming team was the subject of much criticism after the last Games in Sydney four years ago for failing to win a single medal.

But Australian Sweetenham, who is famed for his fiercely tough training regime, guided the team to eight medals at the Barcelona World Championships last year.

"Look at the World Championships, which are the equivalent," said Foster, who is a seven-time world record holder in the 50m freestyle and butterfly.

"In Olympic events we got five or six medals, so that's already a big jump.

"At the last Olympics we got no medals so if we only get one, we've done better."

Sexton, who along with Foster was speaking at the launch of the Speedo Fastskin FSII bodysuit, insisted that Sweetenham has dramatically improved the team's chances.

"He's turned us around, made us work better as a team, and the results are showing that," she said.

"I think we can definitely get a couple of medals."
