 Coleraine girl Jenna McCorkell finished 14th in Budapest |
Coleraine ice skater Jenna McCorkell finished in 14th place overall in the European Championships in Budapest. She was 11th in Saturday's free programme to improve on her 20th placing in the short programme.
Seventeen-year-old McCorkell, while inexperienced at senior level, is regarded as a great prospect.
Her Russian coach believes she has the potential to be a major contender at the next Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006.
McCorkell is now based in Coventry after relocating from Northern Ireland to further her sporting ambitions.
