Good start for Scotland
England are ranked 3rd in the world
Scotland began their World Netball Championship campaign on a positive note on Thursday with a comfortable victory in Jamaica.

The Scots easily defeated Hong Kong 53-16 and now face Barbados on Friday with a place in the main qualifying round alongside England at stake.

As one of the top eight nations in the world, England automatically qualify for the main competition and will begin their campaign on Saturday against the Cook Islands

Scotland, who are ranked 15th in the world, led 13-4 after the first quarter and were 24-7 up at the end of the second and well on track for victory.

But there was disappointment for Wales and Northern Ireland, who both began their campaigns with defeats.

Wales lost 45-36 to St Vincent & Grenadines while Northern Ireland were defeated 48-39 by Nieu, a South Pacific island with only 2,000 inhabitants.
