Phil 'The Power' Taylor had an easy win in the UK Open final
Phil Taylor has warned he is back to his best after winning the inaugural Sky Bet UK Open title at Bolton's Reebok Stadium.

After a comprehensive 18-8 victory in the final over Shayne Burgess Taylor insisted his World Championship loss to John Part had been a wake-up call.

"Losing the world title gutted me but it wasn't the end of the world," said the 42-year-old from Stoke, who was never extended in Bolton.

"It actually took a lot of the pressure off me and enabled me to experiment with a different kind of darts and that sort of thing.

"I was absolutely worn out at the end of last year after all the tournaments and exhibitions I had been playing and I lost a lot of weight because I had been in the gym so much.

"I was absolutely shattered. It took a lot out of me. I just didn't have that extra gear. It was back to the drawing board.

"But now all the other guys will have seen what sort of form I am in again."

Runner-up Burgess, said he was delighted to re-establish himself as a top-quality performer at the age of 39.

"I had been thinking of hanging up my darts but I have come alive this weekend," he said.

"I have never been so happy to be the runner-up and I did push Phil in the final."
