Hadden became the ISL's leading scorer

A late surge by Nottingham Panthers on Sunday evening gave the Lace City side a 6-4 win over Bracknell Bees - and lifted them to the top of the Superleague table on goal difference.

John Purves and Jason Elders gave Nottingham an early two-goal lead.

Bracknell's top scorer, Dan Ceman, pulled one back before the first break and Nottingham's Jason Clarke traded second- period goals with Scott Kirton.

Jonathan DeLisle pulled Bracknell level with a short-handed effort 41 seconds into the third period and in the 53rd minute Ceman put the home side ahead for the first time.

The lead was short-lived, however. A pair of goals from Greg Hadden 20 seconds apart restored Nottingham's lead.

Lee Jinman then guaranteed Nottingham's eighth victory of the season with a goal 93 seconds from time.

Record breaker

Meanwhile, Hadden had already made Superleague history on Saturday.

Two strikes during Nottingham's 5-3 victory over Belfast Giants made the 33-year old centre the ISL's all-time leading goal scorer.

Belfast, who drew 2-2 with London Knights on Friday, were 2-1 up after two periods.

Steve Thornton and Dave Matsos scored in the 16th and 28th minutes. Nottingham's only goal came on the powerplay at 22:49 when Elders buried his own rebound.

The home side turned the game around in the final period.

Clarke, Jinman (powerplay) and Hadden all beat Ryan Bach within five minutes. Lee Sorochan pulled one back 55:28 but Hadden hit his record-breaker 51 seconds before the final buzzer.

Overtime win

Also on Saturday, Bracknell Bees fought back from 2-0 down only to lose 3-2 in overtime to Sheffield Steelers.

Warren Norris put Sheffield ahead on the powerplay at 13:57. Jeff Brown's strike from the right point was denied but Norris bagged the rebound.

Sheffield's second came from Rhett Gordon (powerplay) 6 seconds before the end of the middle session.

Joe Ciccarello fired the puck past Joel Laing less than three minutes into the final period to put Bracknell on the board at last with a short-handed effort.

Two minutes later, Laing padded away a Kirton attempt but could not stop Ceman's rebound.

Laing produced two fine saves in overtime to keep Bracknell out and Norris finally secured the win for Steelers with a powerful shot from the right wing.
