| Price could miss Euros ![]() Price's long-term goal is the 2004 Olympics Double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sarah Price has warned she may pull out of the European Short Course Championships. The British swimmer told BBC Sport Online she might use the time to concentrate on next season in a bid to exceed her best year in the sport to date. Price is currently in training for the British Short Course Championships, from 12 to 15 September. But she said: "I haven't decided whether to compete in the Europeans in December. I need to try and prioritise next year and work out what I want to be doing. "My coach isn't bothered either way so the decision is up to me and I'll make that choice after the nationals.
"A lot of people didn't do it last time and it turned out to be the right decision. "Having raced the Commonwealth Games, working for the Europeans and next year's World Cup races, it could all be too much for me." Price has enjoyed a sensational season, breaking a series of world records in the backstroke and winning two golds and two bronze medals at the Games in Manchester. The 23-year-old was just a part of one of the most impressive medal hauls by England at a major games. And for her, it was her most memorable outing in the pool. "In terms of medals and British records it was my best," she said. "It capped a fantastic season for me. "I don't think I was surprised by our results - perhaps the British public were - as I thought we'd do something special. "It was a very successful games - we doubled our medal tally of four years ago."
Price is hoping to cap her season with a trio of gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke at the British championships and improve on her personal bests. She said: "I didn't go as fast as I wanted to in the 200m but the time I want will come eventually. "I think I can shave another 1.5% off my times from the Games by next year." The media coverage from the Games in Manchester has led to Price being regularly recognised in Britain's high streets, something she insists she will not tire of. "It was amazing the coverage we received in Manchester, even making the front page of the Times with all the other news going on in the world," she added. "That's gone on since then from the public. Let's just hope it continues." | Top Other Sports stories now: Links to more Other Sports stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
