Rowers prepare for World Cup
James Cracknell and Matt Pinsent
Cracknell and Pinsent are heading for Duisburg
Matt Pinsent and James Cracknell head a strong British squad entered for this weekend's Wedau Regatta in Duisburg.

The Olympic coxless four and double world pair champions will return to the pair having raced at the recent Cologne Regatta in a four.

All the crews will be using Duisburg as a final warm-up ahead of the World Cup season, which begins in Hazewinkel, Belgium, on 14 June.

"Duisburg is an excellent chance to try some new combinations in early season and for an early workout for our seasoned campaigners," said Amateur Rowing Association international manager David Tanner.

Toby Garbett and Steve Williams will join Rick Dunn and Josh West in a coxless four, as Ed Coode continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

Simon Cottle will hope to repeat his success in the single scull in Cologne after being selected for Duisburg ahead of world junior champion Matt Langridge.

Frances Houghton takes part in the women's single scull after winning the trials a month ago.

Veteran Olympian Tom Kay returns to the squad to race with Tim Male in the lightweight men's double scull.

In the equivalent women's boat, Tracy Langlands replaces Jane Hall to race with Helen Casey.

The men's eight will not race in Duisburg having entered a sustained period of training before the World Cup.

Britain has also entered an Under-23 squad for the event in preparation for the U23 world championships in Genoa in July.
