![]() | IOC pleased with Athens progress ![]() Concerns have been raised over Athens' preparation The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has praised Greece's efforts to speed up its troubled preparations for the 2004 Games. IOC chief inspector Denis Oswald said that barring surprises he expected everything to be delivered on time in Athens. "I am very happy to report that the situation has changed tremendously," Oswald said. "Even if all the projects are tight we are confident things will be delivered on time." Oswald was wrapping up a three-day visit in which he reviewed construction projects and discussed organisational issues. The IOC has repeatedly expressed concern over delays, bureaucracy and infighting dogging the Athens Olympics. It had previously issued veiled warnings that it would move the event to another country unless Greece started to meet its preparation deadlines. |
