National League

Randy Wolf finished with eight strike-outs as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-0.

The Phillies stayed one game behind leaders Atlanta Braves in the National League East.

Travis Lee hit a three-run homer and Scott Rolen also connected for Philadelphia as Wolf retired the last 11 batters.

The Braves continue to impress after beating the Marlins 4-1.

Andruw Jones hit his 33rd home run and Chipper Jones added his 37th, while Jason Marquis allowed five hits and one run in six innings.

Ricky Gutierrez had three hits and drove in two runs as the Chicago Cubs ended a four-game losing streak as they defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-4.

Mark McGwire bounced back with two home runs and Darryl Kile allowed four hits in seven shut-out innings to lead St. Louis 5-1 over Houston.

The victory was St. Louis' second consecutive win over the Astros, and drew them within 3 1/2 games of Houston in the NL Central Division.

American League

Ted Lilly took over for injured starter Andy Pettitte in the first inning and helped pitch the New York Yankees past the Devil Rays 5-1.

Shane Spencer homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Yankees.

Ray Durham had a two-run double and drove in three runs, and Kip Wells pitched well for six innings as Chicago White Sox beat Minnesota Twins 6-3.

Chris Singleton drove in two runs for the White Sox, who won for only the third time in 15 games against the Twins.

Eric Byrnes, Mark Bellhorn and Ramon Hernandez all hit solo home runs as Oakland won their sixth consecutive game beating Anaheim 3-1.

It was the A's 14th consecutive victory at home, extending a club record.
