![]() | Thursday, 21 December, 2000, 11:04 GMT Gallagher ready for New Year return ![]() Gallagher aboard Lady Coldunell at Towcester Dean Gallagher has been given back his licence by the Jockey Club after serving a six month ban for cocaine abuse. Gallagher is eligible to resume his racing career from New Year's Day following the suspension that was handed out by the French racing authorities. The 31-year-old National Hunt jockey is likely to face random drug tests up to twice a week when he returns. Gallagher met members of the sport's governing body on Wednesday. Following the discussion, Jockey Club spokesman John Maxse said: "The committee and the medical team were satisfied that he was fit to return to race-riding."
