Milen Dobrev earned Bulgaria their first weightlifting medal of the Games after winning gold in the 94kg class. Dobrev combined a lift of 187.5kg in the snatch with 220kg in the clean and jerk for a winning total of 407.5kg.
Russian duo Khadjimourad Akkaev won silver with 405kg and his compatriot Eduard Tjukin took bronze with 397.5kg.
Greece's Akakios Kakiasvili's hopes of becoming the first weightlifter to win four gold medals were shattered when he could only make one of his six lifts.
