Russia booked their place in the water polo men's semi-finals with a comfortable 12-5 win over Germany. Centre fielder Revaz Chomakhidze and drivers Alexander Eryshov and Marat Zakirov grabbed three goals each.
Meanwhile, Serbia and Montenegro also made the last four after they beat Spain 7-5, thanks largely to a brace in the last quarter from Aleksandar Sapic.
They will meet Greece, while Russia will face defending champions Hungary in Friday's semi-finals.
Russia coach, Alexander Kabanov, said he did not expect the quarter-final victory to come so easily.
"To be honest, I wasn't expecting the margin to be so big," he said.
"We proved we're in very good shape and can challenge Hungary for the right to go to the final."
