Greece produced one of the biggest shocks in the women's water polo event by defeating defending champions Australia 6-2 in the semi-finals. The host nation dominated from the start, sweeping to a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Antigoni Roumpesi (2), Evangelia Moraitidou, Eftychia Karagianni, Aikaterini Oikonmopoulou and Stavroula Kozompoli scored the Greek goals.
In the other semi-final, Italy secured a shock 6-5 win over the USA.
Manuela Zanchi's last-gasp goal tipped the balance in Italy's favour.
Italy, who had taken an early lead, were 4-2 behind in the third quarter before three quickfire goals put them 5-4 ahead with two minutes to go.
Ellen Estes pulled the USA level before Zanichi's goal with just two seconds left on the clock sealed the match.
Meanwhile, two goals in extra time allowed Russia to pip Hungary for fifth place after their high-scoring match had finished 10-10 in regular time.
