Haibin capped a fluid routine with a solid landing |
Chinese gymnast Teng Haibin bounced back from a disappointing display in the men's team final to win the pommel horse gold medal on Sunday. Haibin took a tumble on the high bar in the team competiton and world champions China finished in fifth spot.
But he made no mistake in the apparatus final, rotating with ease and nailing a solid dismount to earn 9.837 to win.
Defending champion Romania's Marius Daniel took silver, while Japan's Takehiro Kashima claimed the bronze.
American Paul Hamm, the controversial all-round champion, had earlier missed out on a medal in the floor exercise and again walked away empty handed in the pommel horse, finishing down in sixth.
