Ukraine's Yuri Nikitin beat off strong competition to narrowly claim the men's Olympic trampoline title in Athens. The 26-year-old notched up 41.5 points to claim the title ahead of five-time world champion Russian Alexander Moskalenko, who scored 41.2.
Moskalenko had come out of retirement to defend the title he won at the Sydney Games but it was not to be.
Reigning world champion Henrik Stehlik of Germany won bronze with 40.80 while Britain's Gary Smith was seventh.
The 23-year-old British champion from Kent scored 40.00 points on his Olympic debut.
It is only the time the men's trampolining has been included in the Olympic schedule.
