Ehning loss will affect Germany |
German showjumper Marcus Ehning has pulled out of the Olympic Games because his horse is injured. The loss of the current world number one rider will be a major blow to Germany's chances in the individual and team showjumping competitions.
Ehning's horse, For Pleasure, suffered a damaged ligament and the German took the decision not to go to Athens after consulting the team's veterinarian.
The Olympic equestrian event begins 22 August and finishes on 27 August.
