Dangerfield will be Britain's sole time-trial rider |
Wolverhampton's Stuart Dangerfield has been called up to replace David Millar in Britain's Olympic team. Dangerfield was added to the team for the time trial after Millar pulled out because of the doping investigation into him and his Cofidis team.
Team GB chief Simon Clegg said: "I am delighted to welcome Stuart into Team GB for the Games.
"Stuart has been one of Britain's top cyclists for many years. His experience will count in the Olympic Games."
Dangerfield is the current British time-trial champion and holds four national titles.
And David Brailsford, British cycling's team boss, said: "Stuart has consistently been one of Britain's best performers in this event.
"His years of experience will stand him in good stead in the Olympic environment."
