Cycling legend Lance Armstrong has revealed he will not compete in next month's Olympics in Athens. The five-time Tour de France winner - currently bidding for a record sixth title - said he wanted to spend more time with his children.
"I've done the Olympics many times," said the American.
"If I don't have 100% motivation for something that's an important event, a very important event, then I don't want to take somebody else's spot."
The Tour finishes on 25 July and the Athens road race takes place on 14 August.
"If you said 'OK, pick the worst day for you after the Tour de France', I might say 21 days later," Armstrong said in an interview last September.
"After the Tour, you just get worn out."
