Collins resigned to cheats
World champion Kim Collins
Collins will be bidding for gold in Athens
World 100m champion Kim Collins has conceded you will never be able to stop people from trying to use illegal methods to win medals.

"We can't control what people do," the Saint Kitts and Nevis athlete told BBC Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"But as the authorities get smarter, so does the criminal and there is nothing I can do about it."

"We are people - we cheat in everything we do. We always feel we could never get caught in what we do, so we cheat."

Collins is one of the favourites for gold in Athens but he has faith that he and his competitors will be running on their ability alone.

"I think there has been a lot done to clean up the sport," he added. "A lot of people know now that if you try anything funny, you are going to get caught.

"I think everybody is now watching their back and are more careful about what they do, so I think we are going to have a clean final, a good race and the best man will win on that day.

"He may not be the best man the day before or the day after, but on that day he will be - and I hope it will be me."
