Phillips will not be following in her family's footsteps just yet |
Zara Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne, will not be part of Great Britain's equestrian team in Athens. Phillips, along with Caroline Pratt and Rodney Powell, have been told they "are not required for selection."
The trio had been among 14 riders named for the World Class Performance squad last December - only five them will be going to Greece in August.
"It was a very difficult decision to make," said Yogi Breisner, the World Class Performance manager.
Toytown, the horse on which Phillips finished second at Burghley last September, has been out injured since January,
"We also decided it was in the best interests of the horse's future to take Toytown and Zara off the list to give them time to prepare for the autumn."
Phillip's mother rode in the Montreal Olympics in 1976, while her father took gold at the Munich games in 1972.
