Jamaica-born Ottey now runs for Slovenia

The former world 200m champion hinted that she could call it a day after the 2004 Games in an interview in the Zagreb daily newspaper Jutarnji List.

The 43-year-old Ottey said: "I am still hugely motivated even though I compete with athletes twice as young as me.

"Still, I think the Games in Athens will be my last competition."

Her coach Srdjan Djordjevic admitted her participation in Athens is still not certain.

"If she is in the form she is now she definitely is going to Athens," Djordjevic said. "If her condition worsens she won't attend the Games."

Ottey won the 100m at the IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Zagreb on Monday with a time of 11.42 seconds.

Ottey has won eight Olympic medals, including two silvers at Atlanta in 1996, and 14 world championship medals, including three golds.

At the 2000 Games in Sydney the 40-year-old Ottey became the oldest athlete to win an Olympic medal.

The Jamaican-born Ottey has lived and trained in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana since 1998 and was granted citizenship last year.
