India's Sushil Kumar has beaten Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan to win a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics. He won his country's second medal of the games after an extra-time clinch in the men's 66kg freestyle wrestling. Ramazan Sahin won Turkey's first gold medal of the Olympics with victory in the same competition over Ukraine's Andriy Stadnik. Sahin emerged victorious from a close encounter, 2-2 2-1 2-2, to add Olympic gold to his world and European crowns. In the contest for gold and silver, Sahin scored first with two exposure points after rolling over his Ukrainian opponent, but Stadnik hit back with two takedowns to draw level at the end of the first period. The Turkish fighter won the second period as Stadnik could only reply to his opponents push out and gut wrench with one takedown. Sahin secured victory with two reversal points to Stadnik's two takedowns. Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra won his country's first Olympic gold medal in the men's 10m air rifle shooting on 11 August.
