US duo on course to defend title

Reigning beach volleyball champions Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor all but booked their place in the next round with an easy win over Cuba.

The American duo improved their round-robin record to 2-0 with a 21-15 21-16 victory over Dalixia Fernandez Grasset and Tamara Larrea.

The Cubans were contesting their third Olympics, having finished ninth in both Athens and Sydney.

The Americans' 102nd straight win virtually assured a last-16 spot.
