Bangor woman Emma Davis has become the first Irish triathlete to qualify for the Olympic Games. Davis ensured her place at the Beijing Games in August by finishing 15th in the World Triathlon championships in Vancouver at the weekend. This was the best ever display by an Irish triathlete at the championships. She was already in a qualifying spot after her ninth place finish at the recent Triathlon World Cup in South Africa. Her time for the Vancouver triathlon was 2:04:54. Enniskillen man Gavin Noble has failed to win a place in Beijing.
