Britain will host its first Triathlon Grand Prix, starting 18 May and running throughout summer. The six-race series will include events at Windsor, Blenheim and London - the world's largest. The British Triathlon Federation hope a combined prize purse will attract the best British and overseas triathletes ahead of the Beijing Olympics. The Grand Prix is completed by the Corus Elite Series at Reading, Parc Bryn Bach and Strathclyde Park. "This marks an important new stage in the development of elite triathlon racing in Great Britain," said British Triathlon Federation President Dr Sarah Springman OBE. "The combination of the country's top races is a positive step forward as triathlon moves from being recognised as an up-and-coming sport into a successful, medal-winning one." | 606: DEBATE Will Clarke, GB Triathlete | Meanwhile, the Great Britain triathlon team, including Will Clarke, Alistair Brownlee, Jodie Swallow and Kerry Lang, have flown to Lisbon ahead of the ETU European Triathlon Championships this weekend. John Lunt has been appointed as the London 2012 Organising Committee's Sport Competition Manager for Triathlon, responsible for managing the Olympic Triathlon event at the games in Hyde Park, central London.
