The Murray brothers crashed to defeat in the second round |
Andy and Jamie Murray were thrashed 6-1 6-3 by France's Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement in the second round of the men's Olympic doubles in Beijing. The British pair were completely outclassed as Llodra and Clement sealed their win in just over an hour at the Olympic Green Tennis Centre. The French duo, who won Wimbledon in 2007, broke serve twice in each set. The misery ended when Jamie double-faulted on match point to lose his serve and complete the defeat. Andy had already saved two break points on his serve when Clement produced a brilliant lob to break Jamie's serve for a 3-1 lead. Andy's serve was then broken again when the British number one dumped an easy overhead into the net. The first set had disappeared in just 27 minutes and the writing was quickly on the wall in the second. | 606: DEBATE 5 Live's Jonathan Overend watches the Murrays' miserable exit |
The unseeded French duo broke serve again as Llodra came up with a brilliant reaction volley at the net. The one consolation for Andy - who is ranked sixth in the world following his debut Masters Series title win in Cincinnati - is he can now concentrate on his preparations for his US Open campaign later this month.
