Interview with Tom daley and Heather Fell

Two of Devon's stars Heather Fell and Tom Daley have returned to the county from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Modern pentathlon silver medallist Fell and 14-year-old diving star Daley returned home after the games.

"It's been the best experience of my life. Going out there was everything I expected," Daley told BBC Spotlight.

"I started to come back down to earth a little bit while I was out there, but coming back home has brought all the excitement back again," added Fell.

The pair both train in Devon, Daley at the Mayflower Centre's diving facility, which is one of only four in the country, and Fell in an around the Tavistock area.

For Fell, who has to train in five different disciplines, it is the coaching and support which makes the area right for her training.

"The facilities aren't necessarily great for swimming and for shooting and fencing, but the coaching is brilliant," she said.

And with the Mayflower pool set to be redeveloped Daley says he is hopeful that he will not have to move away to continue his training.

"I think they're going to keep the diving pool until they build the new one and then knock it down afterwards," he said.

And both of the athletes say they are delighted at the way that they have been encouraged by the people of Devon.

"Plymouth has been so supportive. Going round the towns and the city this morning everyone was saying 'well done' and it's been great," Daley said.
