China underlined their strength in table tennis when all three members of their women's squad eased into the last 16 at the Beijing Olympics. Defending champion Zhang Yining took 25 minutes to record a 11-7 11-2 11-7 11-5 win over Belarus' Viktoria Pavlovich. Compatriot Wang Nan beat Hungary's Georgina Pota, while Guo Yue defeated Lau Sui Fei of Hong Kong. Singapore's Wang Yue-gu, ranked seventh in the world, lost 4-1 to world number 50 Wu Xue of the Dominican Republic.
