 Halsall win compete in three events at the Olympics |
Fran Halsall and the women's 4x200m freestyle relay squad both set new British records on their way to victory at the Seven Hills meeting in Rome. Halsall won the 100m freestyle in 54.27 secs, with former record holder Caitlin McClatchey third in 55.42 secs. In the relay, Hannah Miley, Jo Jackson, Becky Adlington and McClatchey won in a time of seven minutes 55.83secs as they came home ahead of Italy and Sweden. British swimmers won a total of 11 medals at the meeting on Saturday.  | 606: DEBATE | Elsewhere, double Olympic champion Kosuke Kitajima set a new world record for the men's 200m breaststroke in Tokyo. His time of 2:07.51 bettered the previous world best, set by America's Brendan Hansen. "I'm only thinking about winning gold in Beijing and if I don't win gold I won't come back," said the Japanese swimmer.
