Mark Foster has confirmed that he will compete for Great Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympics after his outstanding display at the British Championships. The Bath-based 37-year-old won the 50m freestyle final in Sheffield last week. Foster said: "I'm obviously ecstatic to have met the selection criteria and be able to go to my fifth Olympic Games. "I knew roughly what times I was going to be able to make and I would be stupid not to take my place on this year's Olympic squad." He added: "I've been swimming my fastest times in five years and I'm beginning to start tweaking my programme to help me go even faster. I now have four months to get it right." There were also a brace of bronzes for fellow University of Bath swimmers in South Yorkshire. Sports Performance student Matt Tutty finished third behind Foster in the 50m freestyle final, and 16-year-old Charlie Barnes won bronze in the women's 200m breaststroke final on Saturday.
