Rower Reed targets Olympic gold

Reed is one of four rowers from Gloucestershire in Beijing

Gloucestershire rower Peter Reed said he feels he can be part of a gold medal crew at the Olympic Games on Saturday.

The naval lieutenant from Nailsworth will partner Andy Triggs-Hodge, Steve Williams and Tom James in the coxless four final at 1030 BST.

Reed told the BBC: "It was a surprise Holland and Italy went out but we'll meet a new bunch of guys in the final.

"Anything can happen and there's no picking out what anyone can do, it's going to be a ruthless fight."
