 Great Britain have set a target of four medals, including at least one gold, from their 18 sailors in 11 different classes in Beijing.Team boss Stephen Park bases this on a conversion rate of roughly 50%, which means that there are about eight sailors with realistic medal hopes. Ben Ainslie (Finn), Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson (Yngling), Paul Goodison (Laser), Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield (470), Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes (49er) have real prospects of gold. Nick Dempsey, who won bronze in Athens, and Bryony Shaw in the men and women's RS:X windsurfer also have medal chances. All classes except the 49er will sail an opening series of 10 races from which they will discard their worst result. The top 10 teams will then contest the medal race, in which points scored (according to finishing position) count for double. The 49ers will sail 15 races with two discards before the medal race.
