The men's and women's squad meet up in Varese, Italy in early April to prepare for the new season The women's quad are looking for more success after their world gold in Munich last September. Six rowers are in contention for places in the quadruple scull, which has won silver in the last two Olympics Katherine Grainger, Fran Houghton, Debbie Flood and Annie Vernon have been in good form, but others are pushing hard. The Olympic Dreams camera joins coach Paul Thompson to watch the girls Competition for spots in the men's coxless four is just as hot. The team are looking to bounce back and make it a hat-trick of Olympic golds after failing to win at last year's World Championships The loss in Munich for Alex Partridge, Steve Williams, Pete Reed and Andy Hodge was their first since coming together in 2005. Tom James and others are pushing them hard in front of coach Jurgen Grobler Time for the blood test! The harder you work, the more lactic acid is produced. With lactate acting as a fuel and contributing to fatigue, monitoring the blood lactate levels during training can be a useful tool First up Houghton. Blood sample results are fed back live to the coach who reduces or increases workload depending on how hard the rowers are working. Training in the 'right zone' improves fitness The rowers are back in the UK in Caversham a week before the season's opener in Munich. It's more training and the announcement of the first World Cup squad. Olympic Dreams follows the action The new-look coxless four meet coach Grobler with Tom James (second left) replacing Alex Partridge. The 23-year-old from Wrexham joins Hodge, Reed and Williams for the first World Cup event Williams (centre) and eight rower Richard Egington (right) talk tactics to one of Britain's coxes. Williams is the only remaining member of the four that claimed Matthew Pinsent's fourth gold at Athens in 2004 Coach Thompson sticks with the trusty partnership of Grainger, Vernon, Flood (centre) and Houghton (right) for the women's quad. Vernon joined the four ahead of their victory in the worlds last year It's Sir Steve Redgrave's turn for the cameras as the BBC start filming the rowing guide for the Olympics.
