Welsh hockey player Sarah Thomas has been picked for the Beijing Olympics. Merthyr Tydfil-bred Thomas will be the third Welsh female and first outfield player to represent Great Britain at an Olympic Games. Thomas, who plays for Rotterdam, said: "I'm over the moon. I don't think it's actually sunk in yet but it's going to be absolutely fantastic." Thomas started her hockey career at Vaynor and Penderyn School and has played for Dowlais and Swansea Ladies.  | 606: DEBATE | The last time Wales was represented in the women's squad was in Barcelona in 1992 when goalkeeper Helen Morgan assisted the team to a bronze medal when Thomas was 11. After studying for a degree in sports science at Exeter University, the midfield/forward player joined Rotterdam where she was named 2007 club player of the year.
